2007

Paul Almond RCA, has been selected by the Directors Guild of Canada for the Lifetime Achievement Award in September 2007. This award celebrates some forty years of television and film directing in Canada and abroad.

Denys Arcand RCA, Telefilm Canada has selected Arcand's film L'Âge des Ténèbres as Canada's entry in the category of best foreign-language film at the 2008 Academy Awards.

, was given the 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award from Victoria College, University of Toronto.

Joane Cardinal-Schubert RCA, received an Aboriginal Achievement Award for her contributions to the arts.

Ian Carr-Harris RCA, Aganetha Dyck RCA, Murray Favro RCA and Daphne Odjig RCA, were presented with the Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts for 2007 by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, at a ceremony at Rideau Hall on March 23. In addition to a $25,000 prize, the winners were each presented with a sculpture by New Brunswick ceramist Peter Powning RCA.

Warren Carther RCA, was named the recipient of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada's Award of Excellence, he received the Allied Arts Medal.

David Cronenberg RCA, won the People's Choice Award for his film Eastern Promises at Toronto International Film Festival 2007.

Michel Dallaire RCA, received an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Laws, from the University of Calgary.

Aganetha Dyck RCA, was named the Arts Award of Distinction recipient for 2007 by the Manitoba Arts Council.

Stephen Hogbin RCA, will receive the POP Fellowship Award from the American Association of Wood Turners, June, 2007 in Portland, Oregon. Five major pieces will be exhibited at the conference traveling to Minnesota and the American Association of Wood Turners Gallery. The AAW has a membership of over ten thousand people internationally and this is the first year the Fellowship Award will be presented.

Alex Janvier RCA, was appointed a member of The Order of Canada.

Guy Maddin RCA, was given the Toronto-City award for Best Canadian Feature Film, for My Winnipeg, at the Toronto International Film Festival 2007.

Daphne Odjig RCA, was presented with an honourary doctor of letters degree from Thompson Rivers University.

Michael Snow RCA, was named the first recipient of the MOCCA Award in Contemporary Art presented by BMO Financial Group, Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto.

H.P. Daniel (Sandy) van Ginkel RCA, was appointed a member of The Order of Canada in July 2007.

George Webber RCA, was awarded a National Magazine Award for his photo essay The Last Days of the St. Louis, published in SWERVE magazine; named the recipient of the Community Achievement Award in Arts at the 2007 Calgary Awards.

2006

Micheline Beauchemin RCA, Vera Frenkel RCA, and Kenneth Lochhead RCA, were presented with the Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts for 2006 by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, at a ceremony at Rideau Hall on March 22. In addition to a $15,000 prize, the winners were each presented with artwork created by Saskatchewan wood turner Michael Hosaluk RCA, winner of the 2005 Saidye Bronfman Award in Fine Crafts.

Bev Tosh RCA, was selected as 2006 "Woman of Vision" in the category of Arts, Entertainment and Culture by Global TV and the YWCA. She will be featured during the annual awards luncheon in Calgary in March 2007.

Debbie Adams RCA, (Adams & Associates) was awarded, the Design Award C.J. Graphic Inc. / Prix du Design, by the Ontario Association of Art Galleries, 5/16/06, for two projects at the Textile Museum of Canada in 2005; the design of the catalog Thor Hansen and the design of a brochure for A Terrible Beauty.

Iain Baxter& RCA, was awarded the 2006 Gershon Iskowitz Prize in recognition of his significant contribution as an artist.

Wayne Boucher RCA, was awarded as prime recipient the 2006 Portia White Prize, Oct 19, at the Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala in Pictou. The protégé recipient named by Boucher is the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council for the purpose of creating an artist residency program.

Edward Burtynsky RCA, was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in July 2006.

Brigitte Clavette RCA, was presented with the 2006 Strathbutler Award which honours excellence in visual art or fine craft by a person who has contributed significantly to the artistic community in the province of New Brunswick, in Moncton NB in May.

Pat Durr RCA, was presented with the Keith Kelly Award for Cultural Leadership (CCA), at the awards ceremony hosted by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable James K. Bartleman, at Queen's Park, Toronto, ON, 9/15/06.

Wand Koop RCA, was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in July 2006.

Susan A. Point, RCA, was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in July 2006.

Bill Laing RCA, was elected an honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter and Printmakers in London, England, and in June of 2006 was given the Order of the University of Calgary.

Robert Ledingham RCA, was honoured with an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Laws), for his prolific career as an interior designer, and his lengthy commitment to volunteerism and the arts, by the University of Manitoba on 6/7/06.

Peter W. Powning RCA, was named the 30th recipient of the Saidye Bronfman Award for excellence in the crafts. The award includes an exhibition of his work at The Canadian Museum of Civilization 2006-2007 and the purchase of major pieces for the permanent collection.

Joane Cardinal-Schubert RCA, was presented with the annual Board of Governors' Alumni Award of Excellence at the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) graduation ceremony on 5/18/06.

Ron Shuebrook RCA, was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for Arts Administration for his contribution to higher education in the visual arts in Canada, by the National Council of Art Administrators (a U.S.- based, North American association).

L. Frederick Valentine RCA, a Principal at Stantec Architecture; the firm won the "Award of Excellence" (2006 Prairie Design Awards), the program's highest award, for the refurbishment of the Jubilee Auditoria, in Calgary and Edmonton.

George Webber RCA, his photograph, Down But Not Out, shot for SWERVE magazine received an Award of Excellence at the 27th Edition of the Society for News Design Awards.
